Data Sovereignty

Your data stays yours

Where data lives, who controls it, and why our edge-first architecture keeps the sensitive parts out of the cloud entirely. Last updated July 2026.

Data sovereignty is the principle that data is subject to the control of the person and organization it belongs to — including where it is stored, who can access it, and under whose laws it sits. For voice AI in physical products, that principle isn't a policy add-on; it's an architecture decision. Here's how we make it real.

The edge / cloud split

VoiceQuest is built so that the most sensitive data never has to travel:

Because the biometric never leaves the device, it never becomes the cloud's problem — and the data that does reach the cloud carries nothing a regulator would classify as a biometric identifier.

Who controls the data

The integrating business is the controller of its end users' data; VoiceQuest acts as a processor under that business's instructions. End users — or, for children, their parents — get a one-tap panel to view, export, and delete the memory associated with them. Control sits with the people the data is about and the businesses accountable to them, not with us.

Where data is stored

Cloud memory is stored in the region you select. For customers with residency or isolation requirements, we offer deployment options including virtual private cloud (VPC), bring-your-own-key (BYOK) encryption, and on-premises arrangements for institutional settings. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Portability and deletion

You can export the de-identified memory graph for your users in a machine-readable format, and you can delete it on demand. Deletion propagates to backups on our standard retention cycle. On-device data is cleared through the device's own controls.

Cross-border transfers

By keeping biometric data on the device and de-identifying what reaches the cloud, we minimize the personal data that crosses borders in the first place. Where transfers of any remaining data occur, we rely on appropriate safeguards under applicable law.
